Takeoff

Our bags are checked, we passed security with flying colors, neck pillows are in place, and we’re ready for takeoff!  Our journey begins from San Francisco to Lilongwe.  Our first stop is in New York tomorrow morning then its off to Johannesburg on a 14 hour flight.  We plan on doing ankle pumps and squats in the back of the plane to prevent any deep vein thrombosis!  From Johannesburg we have our last connection to Lilongwe, Malawi.  We’re so excited to begin this new adventure, get into the hospital to work, and immerse ourselves in the Malawian culture.  We’ll keep you posted and tell you about our travels beyond Pacific!

  1. Kristen, So happy to know you have arrived safely. Now the adventure begins! It’s snowing here today; big fluffy flakes and grey/white sky. Enjoy the sunshine and warmth of Malawi. Sending love and hugs your way.

  2. Kristen, you look great, I hope you are enjoying your adventure. It’s my understanding that you are getting back on Christmas day. Unfortunately I wont be able to see you as you come bounding off the plane full of energy after many hours in the air, (and layovers in various airports) along with at least ten time zone changes. I hope you have a great time and learn a lot, looking forward to hearing about it.
